Jolie's 1st Swim Meet

Jolie's First Swim Meet with the Reston Lake Newport Lightning Swim Team on 6/26/10. Jolie swam in 3 races, the 25 meter backstroke, 25 meter freestyle and the 25 meter breast stroke. She had never raced before. We are all very proud of her! Go Jolie!

Ode to Turning 40

Sara and I both turned 40 this month, and this past weekend we had some good friends over to celebrate with us.  Here is a copy of the toast I gave:

Ode to turning 40

A few short words to mark this special event
We appreciate your joining us for some fun and merriment.

40 Years ago, a full week before me
My lovely wife Sara, popped out as a baby.

This fun loving child, as happy as could be
Had no way to know that someday she’d meet me!

She played with her dogs and went swimming for clams
And left for Tulane before her Dad joined the hams.

At Tulane she decided, a swim instructor she’d be
and in that class is where she met me.

At first she played coy, telling me to behave
So I clubbed her over the head and dragged her back to the cave.

That’s not quite how it happened, it wouldn’t be cool
But, I did tell her she’d say yes when I asked her, but she called me a fool.

I was right of course, as I usually am
Soon after school we got married and started our clan.

First came Addison, then Riley and post cancer Jolie.
I told Sara that girl better look an awful lot like me!

We have picked up great friends over these past 40 years
So many fun times have literally brought us to tears.

I could pick on each one, but we’d be here all day
But before I wrap things up, I have a few quick things to say.

Thank you all for coming and putting up with our rules
We hope you have fun and all act like fools.

And of course, to Sara, the love of my life.
You will always be a week older, and I’m glad you’re my wife!

A good time was had by all.  It came down to the wire, but with some fine flip-cup action, my Green team came out the clear victors.  Vidos and images exist and will be held for blackmail purposes.

Riley Viener turns 9!!!

Today is a very special day in the Viener household. Riley, born on Saint Patrick's Day 2000, turned 9 today!  Sara and I thought we would send him off to school in style today, here are some videos:

Addison's "Bob's Game Blog" Awarded 2nd Best Internet Site for Kids!

We learned today that Washington Family Magazine has rated Addison's Bob's Game Blog site, runner-up for the 2008 Annual Reader's Choices Best Internet Site for Kids!  As you can imagine, Addison is very excited!!!

Addison started his game blog in January of 2007, and has had over 100,000 page views!

It's a great site to find a few family friendly games to play!

Addison's First Art Show

Addison has always had a love of art and enjoys creating things.  Here are some of his latest creations on display at the Outsider Folk Art Gallery in Reading Pennsylvania: (click on the pictures to enlarge)

   

The Folk Art Gallery is located at the Goggle Works in Reading Pennsylvania and is run by Addison's Grandparents, Sue & George Viener.  Addison has sold several pieces in the past at the Outsider Folk Art Gallery.

Addison's First Blog - BobsGameBlog.com

It was a very special moment for me this weekend.   Addison approached me and asked me if I could show him how to program an online game.   Apparently he has been working on some designs for weapons for his game.& nbsp; I told Addison that I don't know how to program at this point, but I do know how to setup websites and blogs and he decided he wanted to launch a game blog where people could visit and play online games.

I walked Addison through the steps to setting up his own Blog, and taught him how to find game widgets and post them to his blog, the result is fantastic!  Addison (or I guess we should call him Bob now), has launched his first website / blog called Bob's Game Blog (www.bobsgameblog.com).

This morning before school we found that he had designed a flyer to pass out to tell his friends about the new site .  Take a look, and try some of the games, I am sure you will be impressed.   I actually found myself playing some of the games over the weekend.   The space invaders, asteroids, and pac man game brought back some very fond memories of my childhood, and the new Flash Element game is nothing less than addictive.

Take a look at the site, tell your kids and your friends, because I am sure Addison will be checking the stats often.   Play a few games and let him know what you think!   Also, don't forget to leave a present for the Pig!

Addison Turns 10!

Today is Addison's Birthday!  If has officially hit double digits today!  It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years.  It got me thinking about how it all started 10 years ago.  How about a trip down memory lane...

When Addison was born, we launched the first ever CribCam where our friends and family could view Addison live in his Crib over the Internet.  Once it hit the newswire, it was all over the national news including Nightline with Tom Brokaw. 

We ran the CribCam up until his first birthday when it was officially retired.  Here is a picture journal from his first birthday party!  As the first child, we got kind of photo happy and created several of these picture journals.  (Addison's first trip to the petting zoo, and Addison's first trip to Wipigaki)

Once our family started getting bigger, we stopped with the mini picture journals, opting for ofoto galleries, see the Viener.com picture site.

Addison has grown and matured very well over the years. He is a great student and has lots of friends.  This past summer he went away to sleep over camp.  He spent 3.5 weeks at Camp Manitou in Maine and had a great time.
